The Chris Walker Quintet

During 1997 and 1998 we worked at nearly 350 events for a huge variety of functions from Weddings, Dances, Pub and Club nights, Cruises, Shopping Malls and Restaurants to Summer Festivals, Jazz Festivals and Concerts.

We are, currently, celebrating our 10th Anniversary and we have, in addition, had the great privilege of joining both National and International musicians of note for some memorable sessions.

Bookings are coming in for the Millenium and we have already been asked to be the guest house band aboard P & O's 'Oriana' in November as well as for appearances at many of our regular haunts throughout the year.

This year Chris has helped in the music organisation and compering of a Rotary Club Festival in February, a Lion's Club Festival in May, Southampton's Waterside Jazz Weekend in June, The Chichester and Reading Real Ale & Jazz Festivals in July and the Dorset Steam Festival in August - the month in which he also celebrated some 17 years of regular broadcasting on BBC Radio Solent.

Our musical policy is simply to play the best tunes in the best way - making sophisticated music that is great for both listening and dancing - without inhibiting the conversation of your guests - as often happens with most discos and many live groups that are just too loud.

The Chris Walker Quintet was formed in 1987 following a one-off Sunday lunchtime session for the Southampton Jazz Society. It gave the band the opportunity to explore and play many of the famous and much loved tunes from the swing era of the 1930s and 40s. The line up of Clarinet/Sax, Vibes, Piano, Bass and Drums is a well established one and the band is happy that they are well received at so many and varied functions.

Equally at home providing dance music in the Country's leading hotels and Cruise liners as they are appearing in their own right or backing the top jazz stars at Festivals and at Weddings, pubs and clubs, the Quintet pride themselves as being particularly "user-friendly" and can easily be just the band for you.
