Alison Bendy and Gerald Garcia play an entertaining programme
which includes the romantic Second movement of Rodrigo's
'Aranjuez' Concerto and the lively Spanish Dance of Manuel de
Falla. Their performance is punctuated with good humoured
introductions to the works which range from elegant Renaissance
dances to passionate Spanish and Latin American rhythms.
They are seasoned performers and as a duo have played in many
varied venues including the Royal Geographical Society and the
Royal College of Music (in the presence of HRH the Duke of
Edinburgh) as well as at many functions and special events (eg
Festival concerts).
Gerald Garcia
Gerald Garcia has recorded more than 14 CDs which
have sold 30,000 copies world-wide.
In September 1995 he toured China in a duo with guitarist John
Williams playing to many thousands of guitarists, and has
performed with many musicians and actors including Paco Pena,
Wayne Shorter and Barbara Streisand.
When not performing as a guitarist in Borneo or the Arctic
Circle, he has composed music for film and live productions.
His '25 Etudes Esquisses' for guitar have recently been recorded
for NAXOS and he recently wrote the music for Oxford Stage
Company's highly successful 'Making the Future'.
Alison Bendy
Following solo recitals, radio programmes and television
appearances in her teens. Alison Bendy is now successfully
established as a performer and teacher in the Oxford area.
She has performed with many Chamber groups (she played in the
Purcell Room as part of a Festival for the Duke of Edinburgh) and
has also recorded on television and radio.
Her work as a teacher ranges from giving workshops, which
incorporates drama and movement. to lecture recitals and private
tuition.
She is also an expert leader of circle dancing, highly
sociable activity which involves everyone present and is very
suitable for gatherings such as weddings which require a
community activity for young and old (no partner required either!)
Availability - driving distance in Oxfordshire and Berkshire -
also London.
Starting fee 350 plus travel. We will play during the service as
well as at the reception/drinks etc. but are not suitable for
dancing to unless Alison leads circle dancing! Please feel free
