A brief history
Mojo Filter were formed in April 1997 by James Morris, Nelson
King and Tim Golding. Based in the South of England the band
played solidly all around Sussex and Kent.
Initially the band started as a three piece band playing acoustic
blues. It was apparant that this was not a formula for playing
many places so the band ramped up the volume and went electric.
This led to a wider range of gigs being available.
By October 1997 the 3 piece acoustic trio were a five piece rock
and blues band with drums and bass added to the line up. After a
few months it was decided to part company with the bass player
and drummer and so James swapped his acoustic for bass and a new
drummer was quickly brought in. (In fact Andy came straight in
and played the Dinkum in Polegate on the night of 19th December
1998 from a call that morning with no rehearsal!!)
After that everything went from strength to strength with the new
rhythm section locking in tight with the driving weaving guitars
to produce a sound unrivalled in the bands area.
As well as being a great live act playing a lively mix of rock
'n' roll, blues and R&B , the band also write and record
their own songs. These are included in the live sets and on the
current CD's.
Over the years the band have been regularly featured in news
stories in the local press, on the local radio stations and have
also been featured in the national publication, “Mojo - The
Music Magazine”.
Currently the band play a variety of venues from pubs, clubs and
bars to private bookings for weddings, events and parties.
